We are a three person start-up company based in Uusimaa, Finland.
Currently our operations consists of development, prototyping, and research of microalgae cultivating photobioreactors as well as the design and manufacturing of urban farming systems.
Our goal is to provide microalgae cultivation systems for industries that have, for example nutrient-containing side streams or carbon dioxide emissions.
Our mission is to harness the regenerative power of nature through research, development, and innovation of photosynthetic solutions, all aimed at enhancing the well-being of society and the environment.

Why is algae technology so important to Synbeyond?
Microalgae have assumed a central role in mitigating climate change thanks to their rapid growth and efficient photosynthetic capacity. In general, microalgae have been found to be able to capture carbon dioxide 10-50 times more efficiently than terrestrial plants and, for example, Chlorella Vulgaris - microalgae has been proven to be 400 times more efficient in carbon capture compared to trees under controlled conditions.
Depending on the purpose and location, microalgae can be grown either in open tanks or in closed reactors. In addition to this, the synergy with industrial processes creates huge opportunities in improving the efficiencies.
For example, when recovering carbon dioxide emissions with microalgae, the cultivated biomass can be refined to valuable products such as biofuels or bioplastics.đź’ˇ

Sinebrychoff
The planters are created in partnership with Sinebrychoff Oy Ab.
The vials used in the planters are 1.5-liter bottle preforms that were rejected during production, often due to minor issues like drops or falls.
While these preforms are typically recycled efficiently into raw material for new preforms, our partnership transforms them into a higher-value product, giving them a second life with innovative purpose.
The plastic used is mainly rPET.

Support our research and make propagating easy for yourself by purchasing our circular economy based propagation equipment.
WHY?
- You get sustainably sourced Finnish designed and manufactured propagation equipment that makes growing and sustaining plants easy.
Example: Go to the store, buy herbs, extract cuttings, place them in the propagation equipment with water, and makes sure they have access to light. Once roots have formed place in soil and keep growing until you can reap the rewards. If you don’t want to grow, you can also sustain plants in the propagation equipment for extended periods and harvest as you wish.
- You fund our photobioreactor research and product development, and we get to continue our work to scale our solutions for industry.
